Reva Brooks ( 1913-2004 ) arrived in San Miguel de Allende from Canada in 1947 with her husband painter Leonard Brooks. She is known for her sensitive photographs of Mexican people . The above photograph of a grieving mother (Confrontation) was included in the Museum of Modern Art’s exhibition The Family of Man in 1955. She was chosen by the San Francisco Museum as one of the top 50 female photographers in history.
